[KERC News Q4] Our main activities in October~December 2023

October

On Wednesday 18 October, "The Korea-Europe Quantum Science Technology Cooperation Center(KE-QSTCC)" held its opening ceremony in Brussels. The KERC supported and coordinated the establishment of KE-QSTCC. (Read More)

On the same day, the KERC organized a roundtable with Korean researchers from the Netherlands and Belgium, the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korean Embassy. (Read More)

Also the KERC had meetings with KIAT Europe(Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology), KRIT Europe(Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement), IGLO, etc. throughout the month.

November

On Saturday, 4 November, the KERC hosted "KERC Youth Forum 2023". Young Korean scientists from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, UK, etc. joined the event to share their research experience and tips to navigate research career in Europe.  (Read More)

On Tuesday, 7 November, the KERC co-organized IGLO Open with Neth-ER. Through this event, the KERC introduced itself to the IGLO network and European R&I community in Brussels. (Read More)

On Thursday 9 November, the KERC celebrated its founding anniversary (8 Nov) with its partners through a luncheon reception, strengthening the network and its partnership.  (Read More)

On Friday 17 November, the KERC had a meeting with Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office(LINO) to discuss potential cooperation.

On Saturday 18 November, the KERC attended the academic conference on Smart Farm organized by KOSEABE(Korean Scientists & Engineers Association in Belgium). (Read More)

The KERC is working closely with the KOSEABE and other associations in European countries to create more opportunities for Korea-Europe research collaboration and research career path in Europe. 

The KERC also attended KOSEABE's event with UGENT in October and Autumn Annual Conference in December.

On Wednesday 22 November, the KERC traveled to London to enhance Korea-UK research cooperation and to support the delegation of Korean government. A new Digital Partnership and several MoUs were signed.  (Read More)

The KERC co-organized a roundtable for "ROK-UK International Collaboration on Synthetic Biology" in collaboration with Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology(KRIBB) at the Imperial College London.

On Monday 27, The KERC received a delegation from Korean research institutes, represented by the National Intelligence Service. The advisory group provided consulting on information security and etc.

On Tuesday 28 November, at the reception organized by CRIQUE(Cercle en R&I Quebec-Europe), the KERC reaffirmed its partnership with CRIQUE and its ambition to create Korea-Europe Research Cooperation Network. (The KERC is a member of CRIQUE since 2023.)

December

On Friday 1 December, the KERC held a meeting with COST Association to discuss the way to raise awareness of COST in Korea to increase participation of Korean researchers in COST Actions.

On Wednesday 6, we received the delegation from Korea Core-Facility Council which is part of "Strengthening research capacity in Basic Science Initiative" by Korean Basic Science Institute(KBSI).

Also a representative from STEPI(Science and Technology Policy Institute of Korea) visited the KERC to discover European innovation system policy on Monday 4.

On Friday 8, the KERC and Neth-ER(Netherlands house for Education and Research) held a meeting to enhance Korean-Dutch research cooperation in the EU framework programmes. 

On Monday 11 and Tuesday 12, the KERC and the Ministry of Science and ICT of Korea held several meetings with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands to discuss bilateral cooperation.

On Tuesday 12, the KERC organized a Researcher Roundtable at TU Delft. Korean professors and researchers at TU Delft shared their experience and provided insights and good practices they have learned from the Netherlands. 

Korean Delegates also had a chance to visit research facilities at TU Delft, such as QuTech and the house of Quantum, after the meeting with representatives of the TU Delft. On Wednesday 13, TNO hosted delegation of Korea to present their latest innovation and to discuss present and future collaboration.

Also, the KERC attended D9+ forum, had a meeting with IMEC, and organized a workshop with KE-QSTCC in December.
