KAI teams up with KAIST to develop super-resolution technology for satellites

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), the sole aircraft maker in South Korea, will work with a national research university to develop a super-resolution technology that converts photos transmitted by satellites from low resolution to high resolution. Super-resolution imaging enhances the resolution of an imaging system.

The partnership between KAI and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) will focus on a system that can not only convert big data-based 3D screens but also promote high value-added satellite services that combine artificial intelligence and big data. KAIST is recognized for its AI technology related to super-resolution satellite images.

KAI, which is fostering its space service sector, has established a joint venture with Meissa, a domestic with aviation image analysis technology, to promote high-value-added satellite service projects. Meissa's drone data platform provides a solution to analyze aerial images.
