Samsung Electronics to Supply 5G Equipment to Airtel of India

Samsung Electronics has been selected as a 5G communication equipment supplier for Bharti Airtel, a nationwide mobile communication operator in India.

Founded in 1995, Airtel Group is the world’s 4th-largest and India's second-largest wireless operator, with about 490 million subscribers worldwide.

Samsung Electronics will provide radio products, including 5G base stations and multiple input/output base stations, and equipment installation, optimization and maintenance services for Airtel’s 5G communication network.

“With this contract, we are providing communication equipment to India's largest and second-largest wireless carriers,” Samsung Electronics explained. In 2016, Samsung Electronics established a nationwide 4G network for Reliance Jio, India’s No. 1 and the world's third-largest mobile operator. India is the second-largest wireless market in the world, with about 1.1 billion subscribers.
