Aston University (UK) is coordinating a proposal to this Horizon Europe call HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025-01-TWIN-TRANSITION-01 – Integrated approaches for remanufacturing
The proposal addresses the growing challenge of end-of-life (EoL) management for solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, prefabricated building panels, and hydrogen valves. These products are often landfilled, resulting in the loss of valuable materials like glass, metals, concrete, and plastics. Our vision is to develop a scalable Industry 5.0 solution, combining collaborative robotics, intelligent vision systems, real-time digital twins, and interoperable digital product passports. This integrated approach will enable precise disassembly, defect detection, and recovery of up to 70% of materials for reuse, helping to establish a circular blueprint in the energy and construction sectors.
They are looking for a South Korean academic partner with manufacturing or remanufacturing expertise in the field of
- solar panels or
- pre-fabrication construction panels or
- hydrogen check valves
