Researchers succeed in sending quantum encrypted information over 100m distance

South Korean researchers claimed to have sent a quantum encrypted signal for 100 meters (328 feet) and decrypt it.

Quantum cryptography is a next-generation communication technology which embeds information onto photons, also known as light particles, making it impossible to hack or wiretap. It is considered a vital technology in the future security industry.

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) said in a statement on Wednesday that its researchers have succeeded in connecting two nodes placed on the rooftops of opposite buildings about 100 meters apart, using self-developed quantum cryptography technology.
