KERC Successfully Concludes Horizon Europe Researchers Consulting Forum

Over 70 researchers from Korea and 20 European countries discuss consortium building for Horizon Europe

The Korea-EU Research Centre (KERC) successfully concluded the Korea-EU Horizon Europe Researchers Consulting Forum (on Clusters 3 & 6), held in Brussels, Belgium, from 30 June to 1 July.

The forum was organised to expand Korean researchers' participation in Horizon Europe and strengthen research collaboration between Korea and the Europe. More than 70 researchers from Korea and 20 European countries, together with European Commission policy officers, National Contact Points (NCPs), and Horizon Europe consultants, participated in the forum.

Focusing on the 2026–2027 Horizon Europe Work Programme, the forum supported consortium building in Cluster 3 (Civil Security for Society) and Cluster 6 (Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment). Through researcher matchmaking, thematic discussions, and expert consulting sessions, participants identified potential partners, developed joint research ideas, and refined strategies for future Horizon Europe proposals.

The programme also featured policy sessions with representatives from the European Commission's DG HOME and DG RTD, alongside presentations from Korean NCPs on Korea's participation in Horizon Europe and available support mechanisms.

9 researchers from 8 Korean institutions - including Incheon National University, UNIST, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Korea University, Yonsei University, Seoul National University, Baekdudaegan National Arboretum, and SUNY Korea - joined the forum and engaged with European partners to explore new collaborative opportunities.

KERC will continue to facilitate networking opportunities, provide information on Horizon Europe, and support Korea-EU research collaboration to encourage greater participation of Korean researchers in Horizon Europe.
